Garage Conversions
The garage tends to quickly become a junkyard that is used to hold all the junk that can't fit into the house. A garage conversion can help you transform the garage into a livable space by redoing the interiors, partitioning the garage, adding heating and air conditioning systems to make a complete family room, home office or even an extra bedroom. You can even convert your garage into a hobby room, a workshop, or a music studio. Take space constraints into consideration before converting your garage to a family room or bedroom.
Your garage conversion plan should include co ordination with the rest of the house. For instance, if you are replacing the garage door with a window, make sure it blends in with the other windows of the house. The point is to make it look like it's an integral part of the house. When it comes to interiors however, you can let your imagination run wild. Ask your garage contractor about upgrades to be made to the roof and walls. If you have a flat roof, you may need to upgrade it before you invest in converting the garage into a livable space.
Before beginning your garage addition project, make sure you have all necessary Tucson, AZ area building permits in place. Some areas may not allow garages to be used for certain purposes. We live in a 1 1/2 story house built in 1919. Our bathroom's ceiling is currently set up along the roof line and we would like to get a shed dormer to utilize the entire space. Currently can't fully stand to take a shower. We're looking at just building a dormer with a window and keeping the existing fixtures, claw foot tub and plumbing.
